Welcome, ladies and gents, to the official blog of Adam Demerath and Trista Olivas, the newly engaged couple of five years!

We are both studied actors, yearning to break into the business of the Broadway stage, and currently living in Long Beach, California. This is a problem. The solution?... We are moving to New York City, the world's greatest mecca of stage actors, and we are leaving in two weeks. After much deliberation over whether or not to fly or drive there, we finally settled on the latter.

I always favored the decision to drive. I had to convince Trista that, although it would cost a little more to haul my car all the way across the country, if we took our time we could see some of America's most beautiful attractions along the way. We are young, energetic and, most importantly, have no children to ask, "are we there yet?" the entire way. I explained that if we were willing to save for gas and other expenses, and dial out my car for safety with appropriate care, then sell the vehicle in New York, we could use it to visit many of the landmarks that neither of us have seen but always wanted to, many of which I speculate are seldom included in one trip.

I have been on cross-country road trips several times throughout my youth, but Trista has never driven any further east than the Grand Canyon, which is just six hours from the California coast. I reasoned that the northern half of the states harbor some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country, that she must see them, and that we had to drive there so we could experience them together.

Needless to say, this blog will trace our progress en route to New York City and anyone who wishes to travel with us can visit us here to get the latest on where we are throughout the states. We intend to transform a four-day trip into a nearly two-week trip, complete with camping, ferry crossing, and Mt. Rushmore.

As we near our departure from the west Trista and I will post a map or an image displaying the route we've chosen, and we'll more than likely have some type of introductory video interview. Until then, see you on the road.
